The Role

  • This is a newly created, foundational, highly hands-on role for a true doer who will build capabilities from the ground up by actively driving, testing, and implementing solutions across the lab bench, the pilot plant, and operational systems.
  • The role is responsible for defining, building, and managing a highly agile and modular portfolio of fats that serves as the technical foundation for applications such as nut-based spreads and fillings, as well as coatings and chocolate imitations.
  • It establishes the standards for the fat portfolio by defining stringent specifications, mitigating batch-to-batch variation, and optimizing industrial-scale functionality and mouthfeel.
  • As the central lipid authority, the role provides foundational expertise, modular tools, and technical guidance that enable application teams to innovate rapidly, flexibly, and cost-effectively.
  • Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role bridges Procurement, Production, and Raw Material R&D (Cereals & Nuts). In close collaboration with the Application team, it validates fat performance in finished products to ensure tailored solutions that meet customer requirements while strengthening long-term supply chain resilience.

The Profile

  • An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Food Chemistry, Food Technology, Lipid Science, or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • Profound, specialized expertise in fat and oil crystallization, rheology, and lipid functionality within complex food matrices.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic foresight, with a proven ability to evaluate analytical technologies and translate into successful food applications.
  • A highly collaborative mindset. You possess deep vertical expertise in fat analytics and application, coupled with the ability to communicate complex science, mentor peers, and integrate seamlessly with commercial and application teams.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
