Your Role
As Teamlead Data Governance, you will lead and further develop our Data Foundations & Governance team with a strong focus on SAP-driven business data in SCM and Commercial domains. You will combine people leadership, governance expertise, project delivery, stakeholder management, and SAP process understanding to establish scalable data governance standards across the organization.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the team, setting priorities, managing expectations, steering initiatives, and ensuring that data governance requirements are embedded into projects, processes, systems, and daily ways of working.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of data governance experts within our Data Foundations & Governance organization
• Take responsibility for team priorities, capacity planning, delivery steering, and continuous development of team capabilities
• Own and further develop data governance standards, data rules, ownership models, operating models, and process responsibilities for core SAP-driven data objects
• Drive data governance initiatives as project or workstream lead, including planning, structuring, tracking, and steering activities in Jira
• Manage stakeholders, expectations, priorities, timelines, dependencies, and deliverables across business functions, IT, global process teams, and data teams
• Ensure strong governance coverage for SCM and Commercial data domains, especially related to SAP MM and/or SAP SD
• Guide governance topics related to material, customer, supplier, sales, purchasing, and organizational data
• Translate business strategy, process requirements, and transformation objectives into clear data governance priorities, standards, and implementation roadmaps
• Facilitate alignment between data owners, process owners, IT, data stewards, global business stakeholders, and senior management
• Identify and structure data quality issues, analyze root causes, and guide the team in coordinating corrective and preventive actions with the responsible teams
• Support the definition, implementation, and monitoring of data quality KPIs and governance-related performance indicators
• Contribute to global transformation, SAP S/4HANA, SAP MDG, analytics, automation, and digitalization initiatives from a data governance perspective
• Ensure clear documentation of data definitions, business rules, ownership concepts, governance decisions, and process standards
• Build scalable governance structures that enable reliable master data, efficient business processes, trusted reporting, and future-ready automation
Your Profile
• You have a degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Commercial Management, or a comparable qualification
• You bring several years of experience in data governance, master data management, SAP consulting, SAP key user roles, business process management, project management, or a comparable function
• You have proven leadership experience, ideally in leading teams, expert groups, project teams, data governance functions, SAP-related workstreams, or cross-functional transformation initiatives
• You are able to lead, coach, develop, and empower team members while creating clarity on priorities, responsibilities, standards, and expected outcomes
• You have a strong background in SAP-driven business processes, ideally in SAP MM and/or SAP SD. SAP knowledge is a must for this role, even though day-to-day technical implementation is not the main focus
• You understand how high-quality master data enables efficient, reliable, and scalable business processes in SCM and/or Commercial functions
• You have solid knowledge of relevant SAP master data objects and structures, such as material master, customer master, supplier/vendor master, sales data, purchasing data, organizational data, plant-specific views, sales-area-specific views, units of measure, classifications, texts, and related dependencies
• You understand end-to-end business processes such as Source-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Plan-to-Produce, material creation and maintenance, customer onboarding, supplier onboarding, sales processes, and purchasing processes
• You have experience in defining, implementing, and continuously improving data governance standards, data rules, ownership models, data quality requirements, governance processes, or operating models

• You are able to structure complex topics, manage priorities, coordinate stakeholders, track deliverables, resolve conflicts, and ensure transparent progress across different teams and functions
• You have a good technical understanding of SAP tables, fields, data models, customizing dependencies, data flows, interfaces, or SAP MDG processes. You do not need to implement technical changes yourself on a daily basis, but you should be able to discuss requirements and implications with IT and technical experts
• You have strong analytical skills and are able to identify root causes of data quality issues, structure improvement actions, and guide your team in coordinating corrective and preventive measures
• You communicate clearly and confidently with business stakeholders, IT teams, data owners, data stewards, process owners, senior management, and external partners
