JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective 

The Head of Logistics North America is responsible for ensuring an efficient logistics organization with the objective of sustainable, precise, and efficient delivery to customers, aligned with Döhler North America's strategic plans. This includes optimizing all import/export traffic as well as leading internal and external warehouse activities to ensure cost-effective operation and an optimized North American warehouse network. The successful manager will do this while also meeting inventory optimization targets.

 

Essential Functions

·    Develop and execute a complete supply chain strategy encompassing logistics, warehousing, and inventory management aligned with business objectives.
·    Oversee the import/export, transportation, distribution, and warehousing functions to ensure cost effective and timely delivery.
·    Implement and ensure efficient and effective processes in the company's internal IT systems including documentation and training.
·    Implement systems to track and report on inventory turnover, discontinuations, and excess inventory, while driving preventative controls for obsolescence reduction.
·    Ensure and implement preventive and corrective actions based on customer complaints and deviation management.
·    Organize optimum scheduling and processing of shipments.
·    Manage the compilation and processing of all necessary transport documents in consultation with Customs and all Federal agencies, and internal global team members when necessary.
·    Manage the scheduling of orders, collection of goods, and coordinate deliveries of raw materials and selling products.
·    Manage the coordination of delivery dates with the freight carrier and optimize schedules aligned with Customer Service.
·    Supervise, coach, and train the workforce.
·    Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement continuous improvements.
·    Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
·    Manage the logistics pricing for customs, international (ocean and air) and warehousing service, inclusive of all international and domestic freight lanes for the NA business.
·    Manage vendor approval and billing approval for external service providers related to warehousing and logistics.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours may vary on occasion depending on work load.

 

Travel
Less than 25%

 

Required Qualifications 
·    Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
·    Excellent leadership and team management skills.
·    Proven experience of over 10 years in a senior supply chain, logistics role, with a track record of success in optimizing process and achieving inventory and warehousing cost savings.
·    Experience with import/export activities and distribution network optimization.
·    In-depth knowledge of SAP, WMS, and industry best practices.
·    Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data driven decisions.
·    SOP process development and participation.
·    Excellent IT user skills
