JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Utilities Technician position is responsible for maintaining the functionality of the facility's utility systems and support processes as required.
Essential Functions

- Initiate improvements.
- Ensure an optimum exchange of information within the division and with the interfaces.
- Document efficient and effective processes in the company's internal IT systems.
- Implement in-house and statutory specifications and guidelines on hygiene, HACCP, food safety, occupational safety and environmental protection.
- Perform repair and preventive maintenance work on utility services equipment.
- Implement processes to increase energy efficiency and support conservation initiatives.
- Perform necessary maintenance work and recurring inspections with authorized specialized companies.
- Engage outside service companies as a point of contact.
- Support the ordering and specifications of necessary utility equipment.
- Emergency service and stand-by 24 hours per day.
- Perform inspections of power facilities on company property.
- Implement and maintain OEM standards (e.g. 5S; standardized work), notifying manager of deviations.
- Implement preventative and responsive complaints and deviation management.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid and cold temperatures.

The employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days can vary depending on production schedule.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and utilities maintenance experience.
- 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Operational experience related to utilities systems.
- State Boiler Operator’s license.
