JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Application Developer is responsible for processing development projects in the best possible way. Mostly related to beverage development.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Adhering to the approved budget and introducing suitable measures to counteract potential and actual deviations in consultation with the line manager.
  2. Stimulating continuous standardization and optimization of processes and Organisational structures and implementing corresponding measures in consultation with the line manager.
  3. Ensuring an optimum exchange of information within the division and with the interfaces.
  4. Documenting efficient and effective processes in the company's internal IT systems.
  5. Developing new recipes and production processes and applying them as part of innovation projects (ItM) as a co-project owner in cooperation with the Product Manager of the respective business unit.
  6. Developing new recipes and production processes and implementing new raw materials as part of B2B customer projects (BtO) and, if required, B2C customer projects as the co-project owner in collaboration with the respective Technical Project Manager.
  7. Implementing guidelines on the execution and initiation of a diverse range of tests concerning the shelf life of and change in raw materials and B2B and B2C products in collaboration with Quality and Product Science.
  8. Implementing the newly-developed or optimized technological processes and process methods.
  9. Specifying criteria for the analysis of customer and reference products.
  10. Developing new raw materials and adapting existing recipes from the point of view of quality and costs.
  11. Compiling application recommendations for new raw materials in application products.
  12. Ordering new raw materials by submitting a product request to Sourcing and specifying criteria for the analysis of the new raw materials.
  13. Creating and maintaining recipes in SAP.
  14. Maintaining product-specific substance data in SAP.
  15. Providing support in the optimisation of the recipe portfolio in terms of cost structure, resource use and quality in collaboration with Recipe Management.
  16. Ensuring the correct and punctual execution of laboratory mixtures and the creation of product samples.
  17. Tasting developed products.
  18. Collaborating with technical project managers and Sales (discussing briefings, clarifying questions usually for BtO processes, tasting, evaluating samples, selecting samples).
  19. Coordinating customer visits and workshops taking place and conducting them independently in focus projects.
  20. Evaluating and conducting measures assigned by Quality and corrective action.
  21. Discussing with and supporting the Technical Account Manager on customer-specific circumstances, recipe formulation and filling technology.
  22. Implementing in-house and statutory specifications and guidelines on hygiene, HACCP, food safety, occupational safety and environmental protection.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid and cold temperatures.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary on occasion depending on work load.

 

Travel
Less than 20%

 

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in chemistry, food science or other related field
  2. SAP experience
  3. 2-5 years’ experience in food & beverage development
  4. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Advanced education/degree desirable
