Quality Control Technician

Summary/Objective

The Quality Control Technician is part of the quality department.  Responsible to safely and accurately perform standardized qualitative and quantitative tests to determine physical or chemical properties of products comparing results with customers specified standards.

 

Essential Functions

        1. Monitor compliance to the quality control programs by collecting samples of fresh raw materials from incoming trucks, drums and totes in cold and frozen storage and performing required analytical testing.
        2. Verify conformance of batch sheets against established formulas; initiates corrective actions
        3. Work with operations and warehouse to ensure raw materials and ingredients for processing are stored properly.
        4. Monitor compliance to the quality control programs by collecting samples and performing chemical, physical, sensory, and analytical testing of raw materials, in-process and finished products
        5. Report and inform management of any potential quality issues.
        6. Operate and understand the function of the laboratory equipments, including the HPLC for patulin testing.
        7. Maintain the incoming raw program, shelf life studies, incubation studies and analytical standards summary
        8. Accurately enter all information into computer tracking system and completes all records.
        9. Provide support in the Vendor Supplier Program
        10. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and packaging materials.
        11. Work with other team members to support all laboratory activities including cleaning of work areas and equipments.
        12. Assist in the preparation for the audit and support during the audit.
        13. Assist / conduct daily plant GMP audits and participate during pre-operational inspection.
        14. Prepare and send samples to outside laboratories for testing.
        15. Perform environmental swabbing and water sampling
        16. Perform other tasks as needed in order to assist in meeting company objectives.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid and cold temperatures.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand, talk, and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days can vary depending on production schedule.

Required Qualifiications

  1. Bachelors Degree in Food Science or related field with at least one year of laboratory experience in food manufacturing environment or AA Degree with at least 2 years of laboratory experience in food manufacturing environment.
  2. High School Diploma
